Longing for a City gets a makeover?

Hello strangers!

As many of you know, I have been absent from LFAC for quite some time, an entire 7 months in fact! However, you will also have noticed there are  a lot of changes that have taken place here in the last week. Not only creative changes, but subject changes too.

If you haven't seen the new"About Me" page, here is a brief overview of what has been happening.

Starting in mid-December, I began the journey to adopt a Vegan lifestyle. Though I'm still a total beginner, I will be sharing progress and recipes on here as often as I can.

If you the most recent posts from last year, or follow me on Instagram (@longingforacity) you will know that I spent the past 4 months studying in America. I have written a series of between 4 and 5 posts giving you tips on travelling abroad on this kind of programme, and telling you what I got up to while I was away.

Lastly, I’m now obviously a second year university student. I am now focussing a majority of my content on student related posts. These will cover everything from being a good housemate, to travelling on a budget.

In a nutshell, I have a lot more content that covers topics that are actually important to me and they are going to be more substantial and useful to you.

The student guide to luxury lifestyle

    Luxury,    Lux¦ury,    n.
A state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense.

Being a student is being bound to a life of budgets, rules and guidelines; being in work or everyday life. However, as the imaginative, creative bunch that we are, there are certain things that us students can do to spruce up our lives and make them more bearable.

University: Stay on track during winter break

Whether you're in high school or taking part in a post-grad course, the school breaks are often a time that we all struggle with motivation and the transition back into work, later on. Many people are given time over the winter to complete assignments to be handed in post-Christmas. Some time between the numerous bubble baths we take as soon as we walk in the door, and the sitting on suitcases to return, we have to make time to write 3000 odd words towards our final grades.

University: first impressions

Jumping back into my comfort zone of lifestyle based blog posts, last week I began my first week of classes at university studying a marketing degree. I'm just going to jump straight into it with some things that I learnt.

You get less support and help from your lecturers, but you have a lot more time to figure out how you work best. All of your tutors understand that you are not going to stay locked up 24/7 and never enter a club or bar. They even encourage you to get out!

Curls, Pearls and Prom dresses

In England proms aren't as much of a big deal as they are in the US, so it's all quite casual really. Hence the train that we caught to take us from the end of the Pier up to the venue, to avoid any decking-stiletto disasters of course (1st Picture).

As we were all concentrating on catching up with everyone before the summer, when we all leave to go our separate ways, I didn't have much chance to take pictures, so this is the best of what I could get!

Prom inspiration - Bohemian

Bonjour encore!
For my leavers prom this year, everyone is going fairly casual as the venue is a pier and most of us are planning on going out afterwards (and Weston-Super-Mare isn't one of the most formal towns to say the least) Taking into account that we are most likely to be taking cheesy group pictures on the grey-ing sand, I thought I'd make the most on the casual vibes and go with a bohemian theme for my prom look. Although I will be posting picture of my full, finished outfit at some point, here are some inspirations for your prom outfits! (Taken from my Bohemian and Prom 2014 Pinterest boards)

What's in my schoolbag?

As I am in my last year of sixth form, I only take 3 subjects, averaging out to about 3 lessons each day (sometimes 4, sometimes none) so my bag is a complete lightweight. However I do carry around variations of different items with me depending on what I am doing that day.
